Hi all!
So far, Project Affinity has had received many remarkable and creative submissions. It is all thanks to you guys for voicing out your inspirations and opinions in regards to the topic of feminism. Out of all the submissions, here are two of the most astounding personal pieces created by Kimberly Boyles and Bella Abadi. Female.Girl.Woman.
By Kimberly Boyles
female.girl.woman
being a woman means you are raised as a fighter, all your life you will struggle with being put down by society, stereotypes and worst of all other women.
it's disheartening to see all these extraordinary females captivate the world with their perspectives and ideas but just for other women who are filled with jealousy and hatred to tear them down like magnificent skyscrapers, these innovative young girls are trying to change how society sees us but we just turn it into a competition to see who's higher on the social spectrum.
I see how its hard for these females to see others succeed while they're here wasting their time, humans are in touch with our emotions, when we're insecure we put a defensive wall and sometimes that defensive wall is built of envy.Instead of routing them on and giving the support they need ,we decide to feed our ego instead by making great people self conscious about their incredible plans and concepts.
But sometimes you will see a glimmer of hope somewhere, happening around us.On social media you will look at these #bodypositivity tweets and photos, and all these women who feel insecure about their body will scrape up some courage to upload images of themselves. The comments and replies will just be other young girls praising, commending them for their bravery ,telling them that they should be comfortable in their own skin because all females of different shapes, sizes, nationalities ARE AND ALWAYS WILL BE BEAUTIFUL.
Having a support group with a common factor, of changing the world's views on the female gender and doing whatever it takes to make our environment a fair loving community towards all genders.
That's what i love about being a female.girl.woman.
A short poem based on my opinions of what a ridiculous thing gender inequality is and the virtue of female rights.
By Bella Abadi
What makes us different?
Is it in the way we talk or speak?
Is it in the way we dress or laugh?
or in the way of our different physique?
What makes us less than thou?
Do we not vow the same laws?
Do we not shed the same blood?
Do we not make the same faults?
Who made it that so it be?
To deem who's worthy and who's not,
To make one less and the other more,
to strip us less of what we've got.
Being a woman, is more than just.
It is a blessing, a privilege, a promise.
To be what men can't be, to fill the spaces.
To make a name, a duty for us.
We do not simply choose,
who and what we want to be,
But even if we did,
I'd never change for being me.
